Google is best way to get answers to our (sometimes stupid) questions. But few online forums sometimes ask for registration like Expert-Exchange.com , or So are you interested in paying for the answer ?? I hope you will never pay. So here is the trick to get the answers from such websites for free and without registration.

This trick will apply to most of the sites where you will need to sign-up to view the posts.

1. You came across such forum link but the forum is asking for the registration.
2. Just search for the term in Google so that you will get the Google link for the specific forum thread.
3. Check for the cached link near to Google search result and click it.

4. Scroll down to the end of the page, and here you will get the answers for free.

In this way you can get the answers from experts-exchange.com for free without paying a penny and without registration. I repeat, you can get answers from other such website which ask for registration.

Actually what they do is, they show different content to Google search bot, which includes the answers and hence the Google have the threads with answers to question, and we are just retrieving the answers from Google cache.

Note : Thanks to Google Engineer Matt Cutts for the solution via his video on YouTube.

Its codename is “Firefox fennec“. Just few days ago its RC1 vesion is released for Nokia’s mobile operating system called Mameo.

Fennec fox is a small fox found in Africa and as this Firefox is smaller version of bigger firefox it is called as the Firefox Fennec.

Currently the Fennec is available for Nokia’s Maemo OS for N800/N900 devices but soon it will be available for other mobile operating systems like Android, Symbian, iPhone, Blackberry and Windows Mobile 6.0.

If you don’t have above mentioned operating system devices you can try Fennec on your PC , Linux or MAC too, Firefox released special version for testing and development purpose, so have a look at it and try it.

The entry of Firefox in mobile market is threatening for the current most popular mobile browser – Opera. Opera is very popular browser amongst mobile users including the Opera Mini and normal Opera. Now it will be very interesting to see what the Opera will do after Mozilla’s entry in mobile market.

I wish all my readers, friends a very happy and prosperous new year ahead.

Here is one new thing at Google home page for the new year, Just go to Google.com and click on the “Im feeling Lucky” button – without typing anything in search box. You will see a special animated stuff on their homepage with fireworks and messages saying “Happy new year” !!

As when writing this post it is working, not sure when they will stop it. Just take a look at below video if you missed the actual stuff.

You must have noticed that the posting rate at TheChetan.com is decreased. Its because now I am out of station on Live project as 6th semester project of MCA Final year. But as new year resolution I decided to write atleast 1 post per week with same unique ideas of posts.

So again HAPPY AND ROCKING NEW YEAR to all my friends and readers.
Keep rocking .. !!

Orkut is one of the most popular social networking site in India, other popular social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter are not that popular as of Orkut amongst Indians. India is 2nd on second position when it comes to orkut users.

Recently I learned ASP.Net, Its really nice technology for web application development. Google’s Orkut is ASP.Net application. But i just seen the webserver details of Orkut, they are running linux OS !!. I just shocked to see the working of ASP.Net on linux platform. So i did a bit research for it.

There exists one open source .Net development framework for Open source lovers, named MONO. Most probably Google is using Mono on their Linux servers to run the ASP.Net application.

According to Wikipedia,

Mono is a free and open source project led by Novell to create an Ecma standard compliant, .NET-compatible set of tools, including among others a C# compiler and a Common Language Runtime. Mono can be run on Linux, BSD, UNIX, Mac OS X, Solaris and Windows operating systems.

We can also use .htaccess file of linux servers to give any extension to serving pages to fool the users, this might be the case with orkut, but the Wordpress developer Matt Mullenweg have seen many ASP.Net error pages on orkut in early days of orkut. (Ignore fatal error on Matt’s blog). so we can say that Google is orkut using ASP.Net for Orkut.

Google’s survey site i.e. survey.googleratings.com is using Microsoft IIS to serve the dynamic ASP.Net pages, so will Google use the ASP.Net technology in future for few more products ? It will be really interesting to see whats next.

I think almost all internet users have Gmail account because of its simplicity and features, and people like me use Gmail for their regular use. I am using Google apps for domain to have mail id like this : and also have simple Gmail account with 1stNameLastName combination. When Google launched Gmail it was available only for invited people, but now it is open to all and really have best features among other mail service providers. Just few days ago i have written a post on “How Gmail provides such a huge space for mail storage“.

I receive many mails from my blogs contact page, and also from other stuff. I mark few mails as unread to give them high priority for future use. So in thousand of “read mail”, searching for “unread mail” is very difficult. so here is the trick to get the direct list of unread mails in our Gmail inbox.

Just go to your mails search bar and type in label:unread and press enter, here you will get the quick list of all unread mails in your inbox. You can create short cut for this, just do search the term label:unread and from left panel of Gmail see for “Quick Links” and click on add Quick Link. You will get the direct quick link for all unread mails in your Gmail.

Sorry for late posting, i was busy in usual college and other stuff, i was on college tour to Goa, so unable to get time to write a post on blog. I also have exams from 30th Oct so i will be busy that time too.

also belated Happy Diwali…
To stay in touch follow me on twitter @Chetan_Gole, even if i am busy i try to update my twitter status.
